1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2016.
So I have read 35 books since the beginning of this year of which 7 (!) I rated with 5 stars. This is going to be hard. I think I am going for The Martian by Andy Weir. It definitely lives up to its hype because it is so good!
2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2016.
The Lunar Chronicles (by Marissa Meyer) is one of my absolute favourite series of this year and if this question wasn’t in here I would probably put one of those books at question 1. For the best sequel, I pick Cress. I loved the characters and I can’t wait for Winter!!
3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to.
Since I have already discussed the Lunar Chronicles I am going to go with… *drum roll* Ten Thousand Skies Above You! The first book was really good and I just got in the next book and it is so pretty! I love love love the covers.
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.
I barely read any new releases because they’re too expensive 😦 and I barely know any new releases, so I’m going to look up a list right now haha
*few minutes later*
HEARTLESS by Marissa Meyer! It looks so good! Alice in Wonderland! Is there going to be any sci-fi in it??
5. Biggest disappointment.
Seeker by Arwen Elys Dayton. I don’t really know why but I just did not like it. It is one of the only books I gave only 2 stars on goodreads, but it is the only one I expected more of than only 2 stars. I quit after about 50 pages because I have better things to do than waste my time on this book.
6. Biggest surprise.
I’ll be there by Holly Goldberg Sloan and Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson. I usually don’t think high of contemporary books because they’re often quite shallow. Finding that I loved both these books was really surprising to me. Since You’ve Been Gone even changed me a little so I am going to pick that one.
7. Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you)
Marissa Meyer. Duh.
8. Newest fictional crush.
I’m trying to not repeat myself so I’m going to go with a series I read in December and January. I hope that counts. My new fictional crush is Jem from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare.
9. Newest favourite character.
I really don’t know..
10. Book that made you cry.
This book is going to be a little different from the others because it’s based on a true story. The Librarian of Auschwitz by Antonio G. Iturbe. That book broke me It shattered me into a million pieces. It is such a strong book about such awful things and I just can’t handle it. I’m getting tears in my eyes again. I’m not sure it’s translated into English, the original language is Spanish.
11. Book that made you happy.
My Most Excellent Year by Steve Kluger. Again contemporary, I read it a while back and reread it this year because it is such a fun read. On second place Since You’ve Been Gone!
12. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)
The Ocean At The End Of The Lane by Neil Gaiman. I got the Dutch edition at a sale and it is so pretty! Even when you remove the dust jacket.
13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
All the books I bought at my last few book hauls! (see my other posts)
