Dear Marguerite,

You claim that you and Paul were brought together by fate. I don’t believe in fate. I think every action leads to a reaction and that every path leads to a different destination. If there are a million different ways to live your life, then how can every path lead you to the same destination? About soulmates I’m skeptic too. There are seven billion people on this earth and if only one of them would fit perfectly with you, the odds of finding that person are pretty small. Love is something you make or break, based on how you act. You can make it perfect if you both want it to be.

I know you are not the science nerd your family is, but do you have knowledge of psychology? I think that your personality is almost entirely determined by your experiences. For example, my shyness is caused by childhood bullying, and my music taste is influenced by the radio station I listened to growing up. There might be some innate tendencies, things that you’re born with, but those do not make up a large part of your personality I think. So the fact that your other dimension version is so different does not mean that you are her. She grew up differently than you, and therefore she is a different person entirely.

Every person is capable of evil, but also every person is capable of kindness. If the circumstances are right, every person can do things they normally would never do. As you would do everything to save your family and friends. These things you did, you would have never done if you didn’t feel like you had to. So don’t feel bad about it. You’re not a bad person for making some bad decisions.

Even though I think taking over somebody’s body and life is ethically really wrong, I’m secretly a little jealous of the dimension hopping. It is so cool to be able to see how other worlds have evolved.

Take care,

Lia
